Thekkady Wildlife Trail

Jungle safaris, spice-garden walks and bamboo rafting around Periyar Tiger Reserve in the cardamom hills of Thekkady.

Thekkady is where Kerala turns wild. Take an early boat ride on Periyar Lake — elephants, gaur and otters come down to the water at dawn — then walk a guided spice plantation where cardamom, pepper and vanilla grow in the shade.

Optional adventures include bamboo rafting, a border hiking programme and an evening Kathakali or Kalaripayattu show in town.
